Queso Cabeza Rovings for Sale

Due to customers preferring different quantities of rovings and shipping methods we ask that you call or e-mail us with your order.  We will reply with your final cost.

$3.50 / oz.

50% Icelandic Lamb (Tony)

50% Llama (Lunetta)

This delightfully soft, richly cinnamon-colored roving is well suited for hand spinners or felters alike. The Icelandic lamb lends loft and luster, while the llama adds softness and strength. If I could spin, I wouldn't be parting with this!

Icelandic Lamb and Llama

$2.50 / oz.

50% Icelandic Wool

50% Llama

This beautiful grey/black variegated roving is especially suited for rugs and other durable goods, due to the addition of extra guard hair recovered from a dehaired llama fleece. Don't let the idea of guard hair scare you, though - this may not be a next-to-skin roving, but it could still make terrific sweaters or slippers!

Icelandic Wool and Llama

Queso Cabeza Fiber

Harvesting the wool from our llamas is something we plan for just about all year. Throughout the year and especially during show season, we groom our llamas by hand. Hay, burs and other nasty stuff is removed. Just before shearing, we use our special blower to remove any lose debris, dirt and dust that may be left. After the fleece is harvested, we skirt the fleece and remove any debris that we may have missed initially. The result is a final product that is pretty much clear of hay and other matter.

We grade each fleece after it has been removed from the animal. We grade for fineness, luster, crimp and hand or how it feels when you touch it. Below is a chart on how we grade each fleece and their definitions.

Queso Cabeza Yarn

When the fleece is processed, we choose which type of yarn best fits the fleece. The fine knits are generally better with the softer fibers. These soft, fine knits are often crafted into sweater collars, baby blankets and other products that touch sensitive skin. The result is an extremely soft, luxurious product.

Below is a chart noting the types of yarn that are often available.
