Nickname: Beast
Reg: [CAN]570644-P DOB: 01 March 2003 Single (AI)
We knew he was bigger than our other rams, but we didn't realize just how big he was until the shearer exclaimed, "That's the biggest Icelandic ram I've ever seen!" And she's seen more than a few. Beast does weigh 225 pounds, which is above average for an Icelandic ram, and he is extremely well-built.
Beast's fleece is average for an Icelandic ram, but we are excited to add his patterns (both grey and badgerface - yippee!) as well as his meatiness to our flock.
Beast is an AI offspring of the Iceland ram Vestri (Hnykill). He comes to us from North Fork Farm. |

Nickname: Ingrid Name:
SRX 114M DOB: 17 April 2002 Triplet (AI) Lamb record: ?, 2, 0, 0, 2, 1
Both Ingrid and Beast are large, so we expect their lambs to have great size and meatiness.
Ingrid's pedigree includes Iceland rams Flekkur and Skreppur. She is 3/4 AI, and comes to us with the flock from Lavender Fleece.
Ingrid delivered a superb spotted badgerface ewe lamb on April 12, 2008! See the Lambs page. |

Nickname: Brett Sex: Ram DOB: April 13, 2005 Twin Brett has grown into a handsome yearling ram. He is moorit spotted (VERY spotted) and is a really nice guy. His small scurs have not been a problem.
His fleece is very nearly as nice as Navaho's, and is abundant. Brett has a nice long body and good chest, although we would like a bit more rump on a ram. He is still growing, and his wool and mellow temperament will contribute nicely to our flock.

Nickname: Connie Name:
LF 154S DOB: 1 April 2006 Twin Lamb record: 1
Connie has delightful fleece, and has only just begun silvering. She was bred to Brett for 2007, and their single ewe lamb was so incredible we just had to repeat the pairing!
Connie's pedigree includes Iceland rams Heli and Dalur. She comes to us from Lavender Fleece. Connie delivered a large spotted black ewe lamb on April 15, 2008! See the Lambs page. |

Panda's 2007 lambs by Beast arrived on May 7 and they were gorgeous! She had a big badgerface ram, and a smaller badgerface-mouflon ewe. A triplet - a black spotted ram - was stillborn.
Panda's pedigree includes AI rams Hnykill and Skreppur. She is 3/4 AI, and comes to us with the flock from Lavender Fleece.

Nickname: Lavvie Name:
VOL DOB: 30 April 2007 Twin Lamb record:
Lavvie was one of the first 2007 lambs born here at Queso Cabeza Farm. She has developed into a lovely young lady, showing her dam's fleece qualities and her sire's meat qualities. Her build is really impressive, and we are glad she has remained in the flock.
Bred to Brett, we will get spots, of course, but are also hoping to find out for sure whether Lavvie is grey or badgerface pattern. Regardless, these will be broad, bulky lambs with nice fleece genetics.

Nickname: Tawny Name:
DOB: Lamb record: 1
Tawny was added to the flock for her solid moorit coloring, although she does carry spotting. She should also have great milkiness behind her, which is a benefit to any breeding program. Plus she's a little sweetie!
Tawny comes to us from Dancing Lamb Farm in New York state. We highly recommend their cheese!
Tawny produced a spotted moorit ewe lamb on April 11, 2008. See the Lambs page! |

Nickname: Navaho
Reg: [CAN]
576299 DOB: 13 April 2003 Triplet
Navaho is long-bodied and carries himself well. Although not as large as Beast, he does have nice size and good muscling.
Navaho's fleece is the nicest of any of our rams, and is even nicer than some ewes. Not only does it have interesting color, it is soft and rich with a luxurious feel.
Navaho's pedigree includes the Iceland ram Dalur.

|
Nickname: Libby Name:
MAE 427P DOB: 4 May 2004 Lamb record: ?, nb, 2
Libby is a deep-bodied, solidly built black grey ewe. She has a friendly, curious personality that we really enjoy.
Because Libby carries moorit, she has a good chance of producing moorit offspring by Navaho. Whether black or moorit, they will likely have at least one grey pattern gene, but could prove to be homozygous for the grey pattern.
Libby comes from Riverview Farm in northern Minnesota, and we are happy to add her to the flock. |

Nickname: Minnie Name:
DOB: Lamb record: 1
Minnie is a black mouflon, carries moorit, may carry spotting. She is not a large ewe (though only a yearling, so has some growing to do), but very thick in both the shoulders and the rump.
Our hope in breeding her to Navaho is for a moorit mouflon. However, any lambs from this cross should prove to have soft, dense fleece, as both parents display excellent fiber characteristics.
Minnie comes to us from Tongue River
Farm in Missouri. |

Nickname: Darling Name:
VOL DOB: 30 April 2007 Twin Lamb record:
Crossing Darling to Navaho will build on the fleece genetics, as well as infuse moorit into the background (unless it's hiding under there somewhere!) of the lambs. We are excited to see what these two produce, even if they turn out to be white!

Nickname: Starr Name:
VOL DOB: Twin Lamb record:
Starr was the largest lamb born here at Queso Cabeza Farm in 2007 - a whopping 10 3/4 pounds! She and her twin brother (10 1/2 pounds) were delivered unassisted by Ingrid, and sired by Beast. We couldn't be more pleased with this cross, and have repeated it for 2008.
In addition to being the largest lamb, Starr also produced the softest fleece, and in gorgeous black grey. Bred to Navaho, we are expecting more fabulous grey fleeces - possibly even homozygous!
